Staff Researcher

Short CV :

Davide Altamura graduated in Physics in 2002 at the University of Bari. He performed postgraduate research training and activity mainly at the IMM-CNR (Institute for microelectronics and microsystems) in Lecce, at the ENEA (National agency for the new technologies, energy, and environment) research center in Brindisi (Italy). Obtained his Ph.D. in Innovative materials and technologies in 2008 at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy), working at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (NNL) on piezoelectric resonators. Postdoc experience at the IMIP-CNR (Institute for the inorganic and plasma methodologies), and at the Institute of Crystallography (IC-CNR) in Bari. Since 2011 he is a permanent researcher of the IC-CNR in Bari.

His expertise includes thin film deposition by sputtering techniques, device fabrication through optical lithography, material characterization by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray Reflectivity (XRR), Small and Wide Angle X-ray scattering in transmission (SAXS / WAXS) and reflection (GISAXS / GIWAXS) geometries.

He is co-author of 60 publications in peer-review international journals.

Research Activity :

His current research activity is focused on the structural and morphological study of hierarchical bio/nanostructured materials, by means of small/wide angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS), grazing incidence reflection geometry (GISAXS/GIWAXS), scanning X-ray microscopy with absorption/scattering contrast.

The studied systems can be assemblies of nanocrystals, perovskite thin films; nanoparticles or biomolecules in solution. Laboratory and/or synchrotron sources are employed, for incoherent or coherent imaging of atomic or nano-scale structures.
