High-temperature superconductive compounds, along with order-disorder phase transitions in La2CuO4 were studied in the past by high-resolution synchrotron X-ray diffraction as a function of temperature and via pump-and probe X-ray experiments, performed at XRD1 beamline at Elettra. Today, the collaboration with the department of Physics of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" continues with a research on a new generation of arsenic-based high-temperature superconductors.
By means of the four-circle K-diffractometer and the new Pilatus detector we can contribute in a much more effective way to the characterization of both single crystals and powder samples by means of high-resolution X-ray diffraction coupled with temperature control and photonic pump-and-probe experiments, detecting diffraction patterns with high dynamic range, high acquisition frequency, low PSF, which allows to elucidate structural transitions with a better signal-to-noise ratio and a time sampling of about 5 milliseconds.
