Women and STEM: From education to career.

The CNR-IC met with third-year students from the “E Fermi” Technical Institute in Giarre (CT) to celebrate Ada Lovelace Day. This event brought together the worlds of research and education through the experiences of women who have pursued careers in STEM disciplines.

The event was held at the “E Fermi” Technical Institute in Giarre (CT) to celebrate Ada Lovelace Day.
During the event, through the stories and testimonies of women engaged in science, the third-year students from the Fermi-Guttuso Institute engaged in a critical reflection on the contribution of women to the scientific community, the difficulties, and the progress made in overcoming stereotypes related to their role in society. The discussion was framed by the figure of mathematician Augusta Ada Byron, known as Ada Lovelace, remembered as the first female programmer and a pioneer of computer science.
The activity had a twofold objective: to introduce students to the world of scientific research and to raise awareness of equal opportunities.
