Conjugated organic-inorganic two-dimensional halide perovskite for stable solar cells and modules (CONPER)

CONPER’s main aim is to demonstrate two-dimensional (2D) solar cells exploiting 2D halide perovskite with large conjugated organic cations able to efficiently transfer charge between layers.

To reach its main goal, CONPER will design and synthesize new organic diammonium spacers featuring different aromatic cores as central units: their higher dielectric constant should improve the electric conductibility of the layer, while the double cationic architecture should impart high stability and robustness to the resulting 2D-phases.

To define the accurate structure of the new 2D perovskite we will make use of advanced X-ray characterizations by: 1) single crystal or powder X-ray diffraction, to elucidate the crystal packing, the main intermolecular interactions and structure-property relationships; the crystallographic study will help the tailoring of the new perovskite materials; 2) grazing incidence X-ray scattering techniques (GISAXS/GIWAXS) to investigate the impact of the substrate on the film texture and the influence of the structural anisotropies on the charge mobility; the as derived structural information will be exploited to improve the steps of film preparation.
