Caliandro Rocco

Dr. Rocco Caliandro graduated in Physics at the University of Bari in 1993 (grade 110/110, supervisor Prof. B. Ghidini). After a year of military service carried out at the Data Processing Unit of the Navy in Taranto, in 1995 he was a post-graduate scholarship holder (call n.201.19.1 of 30/11/94) at the Institute for Research and Development of Crystallographic Methodologies of the CNR (in practice the Institute which later became the Institute of Crystallography), under the guidance of Prof. C. Giacovazzo. In 1996 he began the PhD course (XI cycle) at the Interuniversity Department of Physics of the University of Bari. In 1999 he obtained a PhD in Physics, discussing a thesis entitled “Production of strange particles in lead interactions -lead and proton-lead at 160 GeV / c per nucleon ”, supervisor: Prof. B. Ghidini. He continued his research in High Energy Physics during his stay at CERN from February to May 1999, during a two-year postdoctoral fellowhip for experimental physicists (call n.7197 of 14/6/1998) of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and during a university research grant (D.R.n.11042 of 20/12/2000), entitled “Quark and Gluoni Plasma Research”, carried out at the Inter-University Physics Department of the University of Bari from 1 June 2001 to 27 December 2001. On 28 December 2001 he was hired by the CNR as a permanent researcher at the Institute of Crystallography. In July 2018 he was eligible for the public competition based on qualifications and interview call 367,171 – strategic area “Biomolecules and Biomaterials for health” and was hired by the CNR with the profile of Senior Researcher in October 2020.
